YEAR END REFLECTIONS AND GRATITUDE

Our Sincerest Gratitude

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays!

Dear UVA Community,

2021 has been an incredible year, to say the least. We added exciting new partners like DignityMovesDeepblocksRescueSF, and more. We introduced an entirely new tech strategy and launched the first version of the UVA Collective Impact Platform. We also launched our website and social media channels to create our official presence online. Finally, we launched our first fundraising campaign and secured initial donations from those who joined our Founder’s Circle – our sincerest gratitude for your support.

As great as 2021 has been, we are poised for an even better year in 2022 as we plan our official launch in February.

None of this would be possible without the organizations that make up our Alliance, and the people within them that champion this cause. Thank you to all of you who continue to make this a priority at your organizations – together, we can make the impact that we know is possible and save lives.

This also wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing dedication and daily sacrifices of my team and our volunteers, especially Dawn Piper. It is their commitment and passionate work that inspires me every day. Thank you team for all that you do.

On a final note, starting any nonprofit is difficult, but with many, you get to see your impact sooner. At UVA, we have chosen to try and change things at the system level, which requires a long-term view with a lot of patience and persistence. By working at the system level, however, we can unlock value for everyone in the homelessness space and attract more resources across the industry. We can change the narrative and shift people from competition to cooperation.

We must keep this long-term view in mind as we encounter challenges. We started in the San Francisco Bay Area not only because the need was so great, but because this is the level of aspiration and innovation that is the spirit here – moonshots. We have really just begun this journey, and I am personally excited about what we will achieve together because, as our fundraising campaign is so aptly titled, Fortune Favors The Bold.

Thank you all for everything you do, and may you have a happy and healthy holiday season and a wonderful new year. See you in 2022!

With Gratitude and Love,
Gabriel, CEO
